Amidst all the rhetoric today..one theme seemed to jump out at me.

“peaceful transition” of power.

The MSNBC announcer heralded..”for the 44th time in this Great Nation..we have witnessed a peaceful transition of power”

The (to me) obvious contradiction of this statement was profound.

was the transition of power from William McKinley’s administration peaceful?

James Garfield’s?

a bit obscure?..
perhaps..
after all we just had a President who couldn’t name the fifty states if his life depended on it..

but EVERYONE remembers Abraham Lincoln…hell..Obama is often compared to him..

doesn’t LOOK peaceful.

and heaven forbid we forget John F. Kennedy

positively placid.

and for those who might STILL say..”well…..we haven’t had a Coup D’Etat”

How soon they forget..children..how soon they forget.
